Well it has been almost 4 months since my last post & yes life moves fast for sure. We are settled into our new home & have already done some painting & cosmetics to put our own touches on it. We are now as close as we can get to our family without moving in with them! It is so comforting to have our Grandchildren so near & of course our Daughter & Son-in-Law.
I have been out of the Cafe for 7 months & while I feel some loss I know it was time for me to move on. My back/leg issues continue & have even worsened. Cooking for the 'boys' @ ATO has enabled me to ease up a little & certainly it is stress free. The benefits of this job are that we get a week off for Thanksgiving, 4 weeks off for Winter break, 1 week off for Spring break & the Summer off! That is as close to retirement as I will & want to get. It is a great rewarding experience dealing with these young men because the interaction with them is priceless.
Last month I received some terrible news from my Sister-in Law in Florida that my Brother Pat had fallen off his roof. He broke his back & fractured his pelvis! It was touch & go for a while but he has just returned home after much healing & therapy, thank you, Jesus.
This being 65 is sure an eye opener. I am now on Medicare! Wow that was something that I used to say "was for old folks", well hello that's me!
Early this month we took a road trip to see our friend, Michael in Indianapolis & had a fantastic time. We went to a Pacers basketball game, the play, A Christmas Carol, a nightclub for some rocking music & yes even partook in some beverages that we normally avoid! Hey as Michael likes to say for any occasion "your on vacation' weather true or not. We love him as this young man has stolen EM's & my hearts. Can not wait to see him again & a special New Years wish to him & his family.
On Christmas Eve we continued our tradition of spending it with our Daughter & sleeping over for the Christmas morning gift openings from Santa. Then having breakfast & departing around 11am.
This year we went to our Cousin Maryanne's home for some food & socializing. This is an amazing loving & giving family as you would ever want to know. Back in the day all our families would spend Christmas Eve together & there was a 'boat load' of cousins for sure. Those were good times in a world that was less complicated for sure.
I will end this post with a sincere wish to all for a blessed New Year. To Ella Mae, my wife of coming up on 45 years, thanks for the memories & may we add many more this year. God Bless my family, Church family, friends & may those of you who our still seeking, find your peace in Jesus in 2015.....
