Giving Thanks....

* A God that loves me no matter what!
*My Wife, Ella Mae for being my cheerleader & for loving me no matter what!
*Lindsay, my Daughter for she is my shinning light & for whom I love, no matter what!
* CJ, Daniele, Aden & Addison, my Grand Children, for helping keep life bright & fresh
& for whom I love, no matter what!
*Jeff, my (soon to be) Son-In-Law, for being good father & provider for whom I love no matter what!
*Family & Friends, who have not forgotten that love & forgiveness is all we need!
* My Church & Faith, for which help keep me grounded & accountable!
*The Cafe, & its hard work & trials to keep me humble & not all 'puffed up'!
*Customers who have become friends!
*Having had 'folks' in my life who are now gone, but will always be remembered
& loved for their positive affect on me & ultimately 'my journey'!

Taking It To The City (a mini series) Part 2

I left off on my last post with some history of my early recollections that led up to my having the 'fruit truck' and it being one of my happiest times.  This is a continuation of the little steps that helped instill in me this love of being independent and doing something that I always considered awesome and so rewarding.  I left my 'market' days and moved on to high school and eventually a stint in the Army for 2 years.  When I returned I met Ella Mae on a blind date and within the year we were married.  At the same time my brother Jimmy had begun his dream of owning the Pool Hall in Liverpool NY, our hometown, and I joined right in.  The pool hall also was a great place for food , especially the huge sandwiches which were served on a hunk of Italian bread made every morning from Pappas Bakery which was only about 100 feet from our front door.  My Mom made meatballs which accompanied pasta for the Thursday special.  This was another building block in...

 Well it is almost vacation time!  Never thought I would be closing the Cafe for a week of r&r, but the timing is right.  With the loss of my Mom, the re occurrence of my spinal stenosis which brings on a pain that is sometimes unbearable, the fact that Ella Mae is on Spring Break from her duties @ SU & finally I'm pooped!  If you have followed me on this blog than you know I have 'put it out there' that running a small business & most notably a food business, can take a lot out of you.  The fact that I open & close 5 days a week & do all the cooking & dare I say it I am almost 64!  That last reason would be enough for most, but I love what I do even when 'stuff' comes @ me.  Some times these factors are self inflicted but really most are just events that life can bring to any one of us.  So the Cafe will be closed from Monday March 11 & reopen on Monday March 18.  EM & I are driving down to spend time with...

        I've sat back for over these past four years & kept silent as the daily Facebook political posts supporting our now ex-President became even more alarming...Now it's my turn to make my voice known...I can not sit idle any longer...This posting is lengthily & it's my space to write down my thoughts so be fore warned...      Well here it is March 25, 2021 & 563,530 fellow Americans are gone because of the pandemic...We had an inept President & administration for whom facts just didn't matter...The most important duty of a President is to protect us all from foreign & domestic harm & he failed miserably...He has still exhibited no empathy or apology...It still continues to be everyone else's fault..What an inept disgrace of a leader & American...
