Let Freedom Ring....

Well, it's Wednesday & the Memorial Day Weekend is now a memory.....The weather was awesome & I hope we all took at least a moment or two to remember all the military members who died in service to our country & to those who still serve.......It is also a time to remember our loved ones who have past on.....I am not the 'John Wayne' type, but I do love this country & am proud that my Dad & his 3 sons all served in the US Army......I just wish we would all focus on what America still can be & not on what was or is.....We still have to rid ourselves of prejudice, it once was felt by the Irish, Italians & so many more who came here from other places.....We all talked a little different, ate different foods & brought along habits from our own cultures....Than it was the Blacks, the Hispanics & now the Middle Eastern, Mexicans & even Chinese etc.....It is also pretty sad that our country can not find the means to get these guns out of the hand of 'kids', whose sole purpose is to injure & kill.....If you can't walk around the neighborhoods of Washington DC how can we possibly believe we have 'freedom'.....Our best days have to be ahead of us....It is the only way to continue to grow & learn as our democracy keeps evolving for the peace we all deserve & desire for ourselves & our families.....We have a political system that is broken & yet most do not see the need for a correction....We can't prosper & grow if we continue to allow for unlimited terms in Congress, where corruption & greed can fester.....If we only allow a Two Party system to rule we will never achieve the diversity needed to govern for all & not just the few.....You probably weren't expecting a sermon from me this morning, but it is my way of communicating my 'thoughts' as in 'Food For Thought' & all that......
The Cafe is humming along.......Trevor went out today & distributed our menu & a coupon offer to 10 businesses in the area....We will do this again & try to get the word out that we are here!.....As always thanks for allowing me to share & for all the prayers & support....

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

Well it is almost vacation time!  Never thought I would be closing the Cafe for a week of r&r, but the timing is right.  With the loss of my Mom, the re occurrence of my spinal stenosis which brings on a pain that is sometimes unbearable, the fact that Ella Mae is on Spring Break from her duties @ SU & finally I'm pooped!  If you have followed me on this blog than you know I have 'put it out there' that running a small business & most notably a food business, can take a lot out of you.  The fact that I open & close 5 days a week & do all the cooking & dare I say it I am almost 64!  That last reason would be enough for most, but I love what I do even when 'stuff' comes @ me.  Some times these factors are self inflicted but really most are just events that life can bring to any one of us.  So the Cafe will be closed from Monday March 11 & reopen on Monday March 18.  EM & I are driving down to spend time with...

Time To Say Goodbye

Well it's really the right time to end this journey of mine with this final post.  I just turned 74 & while I'm not throwing in the towel, I am mindful of the time I may have left.  I was shocked to just find out that the average male life expectancy in the U.S. is 73.  I'm certainly hoping to be given enough years to spend as much time as possible with my wife, Ella Mae of 53 years, my amazing Daughter Lindsay, Son-in Law Jeff, Grandchildren CJ, Daniele, Aden & Addison & as of today, our one Great Grandchild Brynlee & her Mom Amber (I surely want more) & the many friends who have made me so happy, especially John Detor.     Thanks to all the above plus Mom & Dad, Pat, Jimmy & all the                     Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends     I have been blessed with a wonderful life

We The People

I've sat back for over these past four years & kept silent as the daily Facebook political posts supporting our now ex-President became even more alarming...Now it's my turn to make my voice known...I can not sit idle any longer...This posting is lengthily & it's my space to write down my thoughts so be fore warned...      Well here it is March 25, 2021 & 563,530 fellow Americans are gone because of the pandemic...We had an inept President & administration for whom facts just didn't matter...The most important duty of a President is to protect us all from foreign & domestic harm & he failed miserably...He has still exhibited no empathy or apology...It still continues to be everyone else's fault..What an inept disgrace of a leader & American... It's amazing to me that he continues to be unfazed & that his cult members still support him...The lies & conspiracy theories continue & we are more divided &...
