Day Five & Still Alive......

Well we made it through week # 1!....Thanks to all my friends, neighbors, family and the working 'folk'
who helped make this happen.  I am exhausted, but in a good way.  Today Paul (from church) stopped in and how nice that he would spend some of his morning with us.  More names that I learned are Annette, Margo and Chuck.....Lets hope my memory can store them all...Already can't wait for Monday and what new people we will meet and hopefully make happy by serving them.  I made up some new menus tonight with some minor changes.  All of life is evolving and changing and this is no different, I am always looking for ways to improve.  The table menus are now in color which I think makes them easier to read and of course more eye appealing.  We hope to have an outside grill in operation on Monday August 8th.  We will offer Hofmann hot dogs, sausage - pepper & onion sandwiches and both @ meal deal prices!  This will make getting lunch a lot easier and quicker for those who choose this option and will help us to market ourselves...I am counting on the weather cooperating to at least mid- October, I hope I am not being to optimistic...Thanks to all......

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

Well it is almost vacation time!  Never thought I would be closing the Cafe for a week of r&r, but the timing is right.  With the loss of my Mom, the re occurrence of my spinal stenosis which brings on a pain that is sometimes unbearable, the fact that Ella Mae is on Spring Break from her duties @ SU & finally I'm pooped!  If you have followed me on this blog than you know I have 'put it out there' that running a small business & most notably a food business, can take a lot out of you.  The fact that I open & close 5 days a week & do all the cooking & dare I say it I am almost 64!  That last reason would be enough for most, but I love what I do even when 'stuff' comes @ me.  Some times these factors are self inflicted but really most are just events that life can bring to any one of us.  So the Cafe will be closed from Monday March 11 & reopen on Monday March 18.  EM & I are driving down to spend time with...

Time To Say Goodbye

Well it's really the right time to end this journey of mine with this final post.  I just turned 74 & while I'm not throwing in the towel, I am mindful of the time I may have left.  I was shocked to just find out that the average male life expectancy in the U.S. is 73.  I'm certainly hoping to be given enough years to spend as much time as possible with my wife, Ella Mae of 53 years, my amazing Daughter Lindsay, Son-in Law Jeff, Grandchildren CJ, Daniele, Aden & Addison & as of today, our one Great Grandchild Brynlee & her Mom Amber (I surely want more) & the many friends who have made me so happy, especially John Detor.     Thanks to all the above plus Mom & Dad, Pat, Jimmy & all the                     Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends     I have been blessed with a wonderful life

We The People

I've sat back for over these past four years & kept silent as the daily Facebook political posts supporting our now ex-President became even more alarming...Now it's my turn to make my voice known...I can not sit idle any longer...This posting is lengthily & it's my space to write down my thoughts so be fore warned...      Well here it is March 25, 2021 & 563,530 fellow Americans are gone because of the pandemic...We had an inept President & administration for whom facts just didn't matter...The most important duty of a President is to protect us all from foreign & domestic harm & he failed miserably...He has still exhibited no empathy or apology...It still continues to be everyone else's fault..What an inept disgrace of a leader & American... It's amazing to me that he continues to be unfazed & that his cult members still support him...The lies & conspiracy theories continue & we are more divided &...
