Time to tell more of my story. My wife, Ella Mae is also a cook and 'house mom' @ a fraternity and she also is a 'house mom' @ a sorority. We actually work within 3 blocks of each other. Her sorority position does incur sleeping their every night, 7 days a week. It makes for a unique relationship as we are married going on 41 years and have always worked side by side. As I stated in my last post, I cooked for a sorority and yes, it is the one she is @ now. For 2 years we were considered 'Mom & Pop' since we were both on board their. The stories we could tell and laughs that we had, made for some interesting times. I decided it was time for me to make a change and after a rocky first start I have landed into the very satisfying job that I now have. EM and I will even make the same meals on the same day with out ever confiding in the other about our menu. Her 'boys' call her Mrs. B and oh how they love and respect her. Not only cooking and cleaning up after them but also as a motherly ear to listen and even scold if the need arises. She is my very special friend, wife, mother, grandmother and one of the hardest workers you will ever find. If I don't bore you to death by than and you come back to read further posts, I will explain the businesses and experiences we have had together. I thank God for bringing us together and sustaining us through the storms. Next time I will start with the 'fruit truck' days, yes we were 'hucksters'!......Thanks for letting me share......
Well it is almost vacation time! Never thought I would be closing the Cafe for a week of r&r, but the timing is right. With the loss of my Mom, the re occurrence of my spinal stenosis which brings on a pain that is sometimes unbearable, the fact that Ella Mae is on Spring Break from her duties @ SU & finally I'm pooped! If you have followed me on this blog than you know I have 'put it out there' that running a small business & most notably a food business, can take a lot out of you. The fact that I open & close 5 days a week & do all the cooking & dare I say it I am almost 64! That last reason would be enough for most, but I love what I do even when 'stuff' comes @ me. Some times these factors are self inflicted but really most are just events that life can bring to any one of us. So the Cafe will be closed from Monday March 11 & reopen on Monday March 18. EM & I are driving down to spend time with...
