This post is a tribute to my Mom, Grace. She was an amazing Wife, Sister, Aunt, Friend and Mom. She died this past Friday @ Loretto where she resided for the past few years due to Alzheimer's. She was 89 but could have passed for 65. She was one hard working lady. In her last years before she developed this horrible disease, she would travel across the country and back riding shotgun as my Dad drove his 18 wheeler. She also helped me in the fruit stand I had in Pulaski, the restaurant in Sherrill, my brothers fruit stand in N. Syracuse and many other ventures. This is only a small part of where she worked, but the point is she always was willing to pitch in anytime or place that we needed help. When my brother Jimmy ran his dream business (the pool hall in Liverpool) Mom was right there making her meatballs & sauce for lunch to be served to the many customers. She never complained or expected anything in return, for after all this was, Family! These were her Boys & Husband and nothing would stop her from assisting us. If Mom was healthy she would have been @ the Cafe greeting you all and making many friends. That's what she loved, being around people and making them feel welcome. It wasn't meant to be because God had another plan, but I can still imagine it so. Mom always looked her best, hair done, makeup on, polished nails no matter the occasion, she always shined. I will not miss my weekly visits to Loretto on Saturdays but I will miss her. I prayed that God would in His time take her and He did, so I can only be sad for a little while and than rejoice that she is with Dad, Jimmy, Grandma & Grandpa and all those loved ones who have gone on before. The fact that I do what I do is all part and partial of the DNA from my Mom. Thank you Lord for blessing me with a Mom who always put us first. A Mom who loved me unconditionally. A Mom who if able would be washing dishes, serving customers, making the pasta or baking some cream puffs for all to enjoy @ the Cafe. Mom I love you & yes you will forever be my 'Amazing Grace'.
Thanks for allowing me to share my story & for all your prayers and support.
